Students at a PICSE campThe PICSE program is designed to help students understand the relevance of science for our continued survival on the planet.

We engage students through informative presentations at schools and by encouraging students to be involved in our summer Residential Camp and Industry Placement opportunity.

The Residential Camp is a one week introduction to the nature of studies at UWA.  In 2008 the camp is running from the 8th to the 12th of December.  Students will engage with lecturers and postgraduate students to get a feel for the different areas of study available within the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Science.  They'll also participate in laboratory activities and mini lectures and hear from guest speakers about the exciting employment opportunities relating to the degree structures available in the faculty.

The Industry Placement is undertaken for one working week in January.  It is organised at the convenience of the student and industry partner, and students get more than just a "work experience" program.  The placements are not passive with students watching the work of industry scientists; instead the partner employers work with us to discuss a range of appropriate activities occurring in the work environment that students are able to participate in.

Applications for the 2008 Residential Camp and Industry Placement Scholarship close on the 10th of October.
