Geology is the study of our dynamic planet, past and present.
Geologists help us to understand the origin and evolution of Earth, its ancient environments and climates, natural hazards such as landslides and earthquakes, the origin of life, and the formation of natural resources (groundwater, petroleum and minerals) on which we rely. Knowledge of past and present Earth processes is fundamental to predicting future changes particularly in areas of climate and environmental change. This course will prepare you well to gather and interpret geological information for a wide range of purposes.
The Graduate Certificate in Science (Geology) consists of four coursework units.
Students may select from a wide variety of units, including Earth Materials, Field Geology, Earth History Methods, Structural and Metamorphic Geology, Geochemistry, Geological Mapping, Marine Geology, Mineralogy and Petrology, Structural Geology and Tectonics, Basin Analysis, Mineral Exploration Technology, Ore Deposit Genesis, Mineral Resources and Petroleum Geology.
