gisGeographic information systems are well accepted tools for the management and analysis of spatial information.

This course will allow you to apply spatial information to many subject areas including agricultural sciences, botany, engineering, geography, geology, health science, natural resource management, planning, social science and zoology. Geographical information technology incorporates computer graphics and databases.

Course outline

The Graduate Certificate in Science (Geographical Information Systems) consists of four coursework units.

Students may select from a wide variety of units.  Usually one unit is selected from the computing and information systems units, such as Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, one unit is selected from the data analysis units, such as Biometrics and two units are selected from an application area, such as natural resource management, agriculture or geology.

Admission requirements

Domestic students

A relevant bachelor's degree from this or another recognised university; or a qualification or a level of education and professional experience recognised by the Faculty as equivalent to a bachelor's degree.
