Geographic information systems are well accepted tools for the management and analysis of spatial information.
This course will allow you to apply spatial information to many subject areas including agricultural sciences, botany, engineering, geography, geology, health science, natural resource management, planning, social science and zoology. Geographical information technology incorporates computer graphics and databases.
The Graduate Diploma in Science (Geographical Information Systems) consists of four coursework units (50%) and a geographical information systems research project (50%).
Usually one of the coursework units is selected from the computing and information systems units, such as Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing. One unit is selected from the data analysis units, such as Biometrics. Two units are selected from an application area, such as natural resource management, agriculture or geology.
