Marine biologists study the natural processes affecting organisms in marine and estuarine environments and the human effects on these processes.
Marine Biology encompasses all organisms in the marine world, from microbes to animals, from invertebrates to whales, as well as plants such as seagrasses and seaweeds. This course provides you with knowledge of marine organisms and marine environmental systems and will equip you for a wide range of jobs in marine environmental sciences.
Course outline
The Graduate Diploma in Science (Marine Biology) consists of four coursework units (50%) and a marine biology research project (50%).
Students may select the four coursework units from a wide variety of units including Marine Science, Invertebrate Zoology, Vertebrate Zoology, Aquatic Botany, Animal Ecology, Biological Oceanography, Field Techniques in Marine Environmental Science, Physical Oceanography, Aquaculture, Marine Ecology, Waterway Restoration and Conservation, Ecosystem Biogeochemistry and Conservation Biology: Saving Endangered Species.

Admission requirements
Domestic students
A relevant bachelor's degree from this or another recognised university; or has a completed relevant Graduate Certificate in Science with an average mark of at least 60 per cent, or equivalent as recognised by the Faculty.
