land_rehabilitationLand rehabilitation is a process requiring a range of scientific and management skills.

Of particular importance are the rehabilitation of disturbed environments such as mine sites, contaminated land, urban land and wetlands. Land rehabilitation encompasses land, soil and water management, geology and geography. It is based on a deep understanding of landscape processes and assesses and solves real world problems. This course will provide you with the necessary skills to manage the restoration of damaged environments and to monitor environments during their restoration.

Course outline

The Master of Science (Land Rehabilitation) consists of four coursework units (50%) and a research dissertation (50%).

The coursework component may be selected from a wide variety of units, including Land, Soil and Water Systems, How Soils Function, Hydrogeology, Advances in Hydrogeology, Hydrogeology in Contexts, Environmental and Resource Economics, Land and Water: Case Studies in Land and Water Management and Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing.

Admission requirements

Domestic students

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree with honours of this University, with a weighted average of at least 60 per cent in those units for which the results contribute to the calculation of the honours classification, or equivalent as recognised by the Faculty

or

  • a relevant bachelor’s degree of this or another recognised university, and
  • a relevant Graduate Diploma of this University with an average mark of at least 60 per cent, or equivalent as recognised by the Faculty.
