With world-class ore bodies becoming more difficult to find, there is an increasing recognition that geologists will require new approaches and skills in order to discover new deposits.
This course will equip you with a spectrum of economic geology topics specifically related to the discovery and evaluation of ore deposits.
Course outline
This Master of Science (Ore Deposit Geology) by coursework only consists of:
- eight units from the Ore Deposit Geology options, at least two of which must be taken at this University
This Master of Science (Ore Deposit Geology) by coursework and dissertation consists of:
- EART8520 ODG Dissertation Part 1
- EART8521 ODG Dissertation Part 2
- six units from the Ore Deposit Geology options, at least two of which must be taken at this University
Admission requirements
Domestic students
- A relevant bachelor’s degree with honours of this University, with a weighted average of at least 60 per cent in those units for which the results contribute to the calculation of the honours classification, or equivalent as recognised by the Faculty
or
- a relevant bachelor’s degree of this or another recognised university, and
- a relevant Graduate Diploma of this University with an average mark of at least 60 per cent, or equivalent as recognised by the Faculty.
