Soil management is of great importance in all environments and depends on an in-depth understanding of the nature of soil and how it responds to various forms of disturbance with a view to its sustainable utilisation.
Procedures and practices for soil management need to be tailored to specific regions and climatic zones, but general principles are applicable across landscapes everywhere. This course will provide you with an understanding of physical, chemical, biological, and hydrological processes that effect soil, as well as the design and implementation of appropriate soil management practices.
The Master of Science (Soil Management) consists of four coursework units (50%) and a research dissertation (50%).
The coursework component may be selected from a wide variety of units, including Land, Soil and Water Systems, How Soils Function, Hydrogeology, Advances in Hydrogeology, Land and Water: Case Studies in Land and Water Management, Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, Project and Risk Management and Management Decision Tools.
