Primary Industries Project

This initiative aims to connect secondary science teachers and tertiary bound science students with primary industry science programmes and career paths, with the aim of increasing the numbers of high-achieving students pursuing careers in the primary industries.

The project is focused on several schools in Perth, as well as Geraldton, Bunbury and Albany areas.

Activities focus particularly on the sciences underpinning agriculture.

The project has three components:

• Student camp and industry placement
• Teachers professional development
• CD ROM resources for teachers

The project is funded by Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), Department of Agriculture and The University of Western Australia.
