I never had a fixed view of just one career when I first started at UWA, and I still don't.
Doing the best I could and making sure I enjoyed going to work have always been my aims, along with a desire to remain challenged, enjoy those I work with, and be treated as an equal. The result of this has certainly been an interesting and varied career path since I graduated.
My first position was Director of Sport and Recreation at UWA, where I established the Guild's Fitness Centre. Since then I've been the Manager of Promotions and Programs at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, Manager of Whiteman Park and, prior to my current position, Director of Visitor Services and Cultural Heritage at King's Park.
As CEO of the Scitech Discovery Centre, I have the unique opportunity to combine my passion for science with a love of creating, leading and managing a team of equally passionate science communicators and educators.
Studying Science at UWA taught me many other 'life-skills' - how to work hard, how to seek out people willing to help a beginner, and never to be afraid of asking the dumb question.
