BArts History,

Research officer
Wheatbelt Development Commission

I was employed with the Wheatbelt Development Commission to complete my Honours thesis on community interaction with education providers in the region.

With a Bachelor Arts (History and Geography majors) with Honours in Geography, my research is being used to address education service deliveries in rural areas.

As a research officer with the Commission, I see a great deal of the Wheatbelt and I enjoy working with local government, community groups, education providers and stakeholders.

I have also made important contacts, meeting a number of influential decision makers and political figures.

One of the benefits of working in regional development is the chance to work on a variety of issues from service delivery to infrastructure development; advocacy to planning, education, health, tourism, energy and water.

In my choice of career, I was influenced by lecturers who have industry experience and contacts who were also great to talk to regarding employment possibilities.
