Working in the field of health and fitness is a long way from what I originally planned on becoming - an actuary - when I started university.

I discovered that people, rather than figures and statistics, were my passion. Doing mathematics did however provide me with important problem solving skills, and the principles of exercise and people skills I developed studying Human Movement have proven important in my current job.

I joined UWA Sports as assistant manager of health and fitness before being appointed co-manager in 2001.

The job encompasses all areas of the health and fitness industry, from teaching and rehabilitation through to personal training, corporate health, management training and the financial aspects.

Exercise Rehabilitation was my favourite course at UWA and was instrumental in my most satisfying career achievement when, over a period of twelve months, I trained a person with a seriously debilitating injury to full exercise, which resulted in a vastly improved quality of life.
