BSc Comm Studies
(now Science Comm)
Scitech Discovery Centre, WA
I wanted a career that allowed me to interact with people and share my enthusiasm for science.
I was excited at the prospect of studying Science Communication, which at the time was a new degree at UWA. Science Communication units were some of my favourites, along with the Pharmacology units.
During my second year at university, I started working at Scitech and found my role both rewarding and lots of fun. My job now involves working with school groups and the public, explaining and interpreting exhibits. I am also responsible for creating programs and activities to run with our visitors. In addition to this, I present shows in Horizon - the Planetarium - talking about space and the night sky.
It's an incredibly varied position and has so far involved everything from participating in a comedy debate to presenting science shows in Singapore.
