Professor Graeme Martin

After completing his undergraduate and graduate degrees in agriculture at UWA, Graeme Martin worked in France and Scotland before returning to his alma mater.

In 1986, he became a lecturer in what is now the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences and has since been promoted to the position of Professor. His research team includes post-doctoral fellows and doctoral students, mostly working on reproductive physiology and neurophysiology in sheep, emus, rats and dogs.

  1. Research strengths
  2. Research centres and institutes

Research within the Faculty is helping to address the biggest problems facing humanity.

Research strengths

Our research strengths are in the areas of:

  • Fundamental earth and biological sciences
  • Agricultural and ecological systems
  • Minerals and petroleum geosciences
  • Environmental sciences (including marine science)

The Faculty is extremely well placed to provide research in support of resource development and conservation in both terrestrial and aquatic environments.

Our unique combination of scientists and economists provides a collaborative research and teaching environment that benefits students and external stakeholders alike.

Strength in research is reflected in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

Undergraduate degrees emphasise training in fundamental sciences, and are taught by staff with significant research expertise.

The Faculty provides an exceptionally strong postgraduate research program, with over 200 doctoral students, 20% of whom are international students.

We rank second in the Group of Eight Universities in average citations per paper in Agricultural Sciences.
